The state of Washington possesses an astonishing number of state parks. Many are small and unvisited by the crowds. One such state park on the Pacific coast is the Griffiths-Priday Ocean State Park. You can discover the park just off State Route 109 near the community of Copalis Beach.

The low sand dunes create a natural spit. Conner Creek and the Copalis River surround the area. Adjoining the Copalis National Wildlife Refuge, the spot is a sanctuary for migratory birds, including bald eagles and other shorebirds.

It was a typical cloudy day on the coast, near high tide, hence the water level in the tidal-influenced creek. I wandered through the area until I found this composition that depicts how Conner Creek snakes its way through the grassy dunes.
