If you love the rural countryside, it will excite you to know that I have added new photographs to my online rural photography gallery. The simplicity and serenity of rural life inspired these images. I captured both the beauty and decay prevalent in many rural areas.

The first two photographs showcase the beauty of rural life. I found the first photo, “God Bless America Barn,” while exploring a rural, dead-end back road near Montesano, Washington. When I saw the old bicycle leaning against the old barn under the words “God Bless America,” I knew I had to stop and capture an image. This photograph would complement any “Americana” themed decor.

Upon further exploring the back roads of the Lower Chehalis River Valley, I came across the second photo, “Silo and Barn.” I love photographing old silos. So often, the area around silos is a collection point for broken-down equipment and debris, so I was excited to see a clear view of this beautiful silo.

I love how the silo and leafless winter trees stand out from the dark, cloudy skies. The misty hills soften the background while the blackberry bushes create a mystery of what’s hidden within the old barn.

These first two images evoke a sense of peace and tranquility, highlighting the charm and simplicity of life in the countryside.

With my back road explorations of Grays Harbor County, I found a couple of examples of “rural decay” often seen in the American countryside.

I found the structure in the third photo, “Old Shingled Shed,” alone in an old overgrown plot of land. Because there is a door, several windows, and a heat source (chimney), this rustic wood-shingled “tiny house” may have housed farm workers in the past.

The fourth photo, “Abandoned Shingled House,” exemplifies what is occurring in many rural areas. Nature reclaiming this beautiful cedar-shingled farmhouse after its occupants vacated it.

I love the architectural details of these old farmhouses. Even with the simplicity, the molding above the doors and windows was a detail never excluded. In its current state of disrepair, the old house conjures up feelings of a haunted house.

These last two images capture the beauty of the old structures and the natural decay process that is an inevitable part of life in rural areas.

In conclusion, the photographs added to my online gallery showcase rural areas’ contrasting beauty and decay. The first two images portray the peaceful and charming aspects of life in the Pacific Northwest countryside, while the last two capture the rustic and haunting beauty of abandoned structures. These images evoke a sense of nostalgia and appreciation for the simple and serene life in rural America. Whether you love the rural countryside or simply appreciate the beauty found in decay, these photographs will inspire and captivate you.
