The leaves are turning, painting the world in a vibrant palette. The air’s getting crisp, carrying the promise of new beginnings. Change is in the wind and a beautiful sight to behold.
As September fades, so does Self-Improvement Month. But growth doesn’t stop with the calendar. It’s a constant, like the tides I photograph on the Pacific coast.
I’ve been thinking about change. It creeps up on us, slow and steady, like fog rolling in from the sea. One day, you look up, and the world’s different. That’s what I try to capture in my work—those moments of transition, frozen in black and white.
There’s a serene peace in change if you know where to look. I find it in the silent forests of the Pacific Northwest, where the ancient trees stand as silent sentinels. In the way light filters through their branches, painting shadows that shift with each passing hour. It clings to mountaintops in the mist, a gentle reminder that change can be tranquil.
October’s coming. With it, the promise of new beginnings and, yes, a touch of the spooky. The world gets a little quieter, a little more introspective. It’s an excellent time to look inward and embrace our changes.
As the holidays loom, I feel a mix of excitement and nostalgia. The world speeds up, but my camera slows it down. Capturing moments of stillness in the rush.
I’ve got new work in the online gallery. Art that reflects this time of transition. Of growth. Of change embraced, not feared. They’re windows into the quiet corners of the Northwest. Invitations to pause, breathe, and find your moment of peace in a world that never stops turning. You have the power to find peace amid change.
Take a look and see if you’ve got a moment. You may see something of yourself reflected. In the end, that’s what art’s all about—a mirror for the soul in a world of constant change.
