It was my daughter’s last full day before she had to fly back to Belgium to prepare for the upcoming school term. She wanted to show her roommate around Seattle, Washington.

Throughout the day, we visited many famous tourist spots, including Fremont (the center of the universe), the Troll, and the downtown waterfront. We also shopped in several bookstores and thrift shops and ate great food.

The final destination would be Kerry Park, providing one of the best views of downtown Seattle.

Little did we know what we were in for.

The evening we chose to visit Kerry Park coincided with the Sturgeon Moon, the last of this year’s parade of four supermoons, which began in May.

Hundreds of people were at the park to witness the event. Luckily, I found a parking spot several blocks away. Usually, I try to avoid crowded spaces like this. However, I decided to see what I could capture since I was present.

I worked quickly to find a composition amongst the crowds, finally taking a position lower down the hill from where most were viewing.

Below, I shared a YouTube Short Behind-the-Scenes Video from the evening.

While photographing from Kerry Park, I noticed significant changes to the Seattle skyline. Over the past 10 years, Seattle has been a hotbed of new construction. Dozens of cranes regularly operated over the city (especially pre-pandemic). I included the photo below from 8 years ago to contrast the changes in the skyline.
