The Chain of Lakes is located deep in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest in southern Washington State. The group of up to 8 lakes (some mere ponds, others possibly seasonal) sits near the base of Mt. Adams. There is a small primitive campground near one of the larger bodies of water that offers a few campsites, a few with picnic tables.
The Chain of Lakes is accessed off a dirt road from nearby Takhlakh Lake and dead-ends at one of the larger lakes.
After exploring and photographing the area around Takhlakh Lake and Ollalie Lake earlier in the day, I drove down the dirt road to the Chain of Lakes Campground late in the afternoon. Most of the campsites were occupied. I found a location to park near the boat launch and set off on foot and found this black and white landscape photographic composition with quality light shining onto the forest along the edge of the lake.
