I hope you are enjoying your summer and it’s not too hot where you live. Here in the Pacific Northwest, we may have had the best weather in the US — warm but no extreme heat.
Recently, I had an overnight camping trip near Mt. Adams. The campground at the base of the mountain was in an area that burned in 2012. The silvered trees still stand, surrounded by new growth.
This time of year, the evening glow from the sun is visible on the mountain from the campground.
After dinner, I went out into the open meadow in the last hour before sunset. I wandered around the area until I found the above photo composition.
Besides capturing the majesty of Mt. Adams, I wanted to tell the story of the forest fire that burned through the area and how nature renews itself. By the way, lightning caused this fire.
